Job Description

The Global Social Media Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and day-to-day running of Yamaha Guitar Group’s global social media presence. They are the primary person executing the social media strategy defined as part of the global marketing plan, creating and managing media channels which provide real, measurable value to both our audience and the business.

The Global Social Media Coordinator is at the center of all social media activity across Yamaha Guitar Group brands, liaising with content providers and brand stakeholders in the marketing teams, product divisions and regional sales subsidiaries to program and deploy content across various media channels and using their in-depth knowledge of trends, best-practices and customer behaviors to support the development of media guidelines and strategies.

Working in a cross-brand role as part of the Yamaha Guitar Group marketing department, an appreciation of the brand DNA of both Yamaha and Line 6 and how they work alongside each other, together with the ability to communicate and leverage those brand values, is essential.

The ideal candidate for this role will have an intimate understanding of what makes guitarists ‘tick’, a good knowledge of guitars and the guitar market and a strong interest in the wider music and arts scene including up to the minute digital and social media trends. They will have an excellent ability to define, direct and manage creative projects in-line with an overall direction and a sharp eye for detail, including outstanding written communication skills.

  • Developing and managing a content calendar/schedule across all social media channels to support the overall social media strategy
  • Coordinating and directing content from providers (AR, subsidiaries, product marketing etc.) to populate the channels in-line with the schedule and strategy
  • Writing and editing content to ensure all posts fit the style and function defined in the social media plan
  • Posting and scheduling content, including management of regional targeting
  • Reporting metrics and insights on social media performance
  • Developing, managing and updating content guidelines through collaboration with other corporate social media teams to maximize engagement, impact and cross-promotion between groups
  • Ensuring Yamaha Guitar Group social media is connected to and compliant with corporate policies and rules
  • Managing legal exposure issues related to artist/copyrighted content


Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of social media content programming/digital marketing experience
  • Passionate interest in current music and global popular culture
  • Strong understanding of guitarists and the guitar market
  • Empathy for cultural differences between global markets
  • Native English speaker
  • Excellent copywriting skills
  • Ability to coordinate an international, cross-functional team
  • Good knowledge of social media platforms including technology, terminology and management mechanisms
