Job Description

        PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Manage multi-disciplined, multi-location, cross-departmental development teams and regularly monitor project costs, schedule and priorities
  • Work collaboratively to create and maintain project schedules and milestones, provide visibility to project data, highlight key dependencies, and reduce churn by facilitating decision-making and optimizing team performance
  • Provide clear and timely communication to the team regarding project goals and milestones. Work with the team to ensure design documents and action items are reviewed and completed in-line with expected delivery dates
  • Understand the critical path(s) and dependencies and manage potential risks as far in advance as possible
  • Escalate issues early in order to give the project maximum opportunity to problem solve or pivot
  • Utilize Agile methodology and Scrum tools to support sprint planning, daily standups, and sprint reviews
  • Work with Product Management to understand product requirements and ensure that design goals are met

COLLABORATION WITH JAPAN

  • Facilitate effective communication between North America and Japan development teams; bring visibility and understanding of cross-cultural differences, and help build cross-cultural bridges, as needed
  • Collaborate to identify and ensure key milestones are understood by all cross-functional teams and appropriately tracked
  • Bringing visibility to all requirements and documentation and ensure a successful transition from design to manufacturing
  • Provide clear reporting, including attending roadmap review meetings with the executive staff to review the project and related business case status
     

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years experience as a Project Manager or Engineer in a hardware product development environment
  • Experience creating an effective team environment, building strong relationships, negotiation, solving problems, resolving conflicts, and managing resources in a matrix environment
  • Experience working with a Japanese company a plus
  • Experience developing audio products a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills that instill trust, respect, and high personal work standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in Japanese language and business protocol
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Fluent in Agile, Microsoft Project and Office Applications
